Print a set of coasters, inspired by the movie "The Fifth Element" These coasters are easy to print and you can choose between different versions: - Single extruder - MMU, Palette or other multi material devices - Printing with a felt/fabric inlay All files are numbered according to their element: 01 is the base, 02 is water, 03 is earth, 04 is wind, 05 is fire and 06 is for the triangular middle piece for stacking the coasters. The base and triangle have also a version to insert a magnet to hold the triangle in the base (these files have "magnet" in the file name). They are made for two magnets with a diameter of 4mm and a height of 2mm each. Make sure to print the matching files and glue in the magnets in the correct direction (one side "+" showing, the other side "-" showing). Instructions: Single exruder Print all 5 coasters and one triangle with the word "single" in the end of each file name. The base and the triangle have 2 files each, one to attach a magnet, one without, so make sure to pick the correct one depending on which version you'd like to make. Make a filament swap after 2mm (at 2.20 for PrusaSlicer) to print the elemental ornaments in a different color. For the magnet base swap after 4mm (at 4.20 for PrusaSlicer). If you want to print the center triangle in different colors as well, the first filament swap should be made after 4mm height, the others after 5mm each. (PrusaSlicer: 4.20, 9.20, 14.20, 19.20). MMU, Palette or other multi material devices Each Coaster has two files: one for the frame and one for the inlay. The base has 2 files each, one to attach a magnet, one without, so make sure to pick the correct one depending on which version you'd like to make. The triangle consists of 5 files, one for each color of the elements. The base file has 2 versions, one for a magnet, one without. If you want to print the triangle in a single color, just use one of the files from the "single" version (one with magnet, one without). Printing with a felt/fabric inlay For this version you will need a sheet of felt fabric (A4 size is big enough for 6 coaster inlays), print the five "Frame" files without the inlay and one triangle. The base and the triangle have 2 files each, one to attach a magnet, one without, so make sure to pick the correct one depending on which version you'd like to make. Make sure the felt has a maximum thickness of 0.8mm. You will have to prepare 5 felt inlays for your coasters: 1. Print out the template png in 100% size (in the pictures), cut along the outlines and cut out the triangle in the middle. 2. Use the template to cut out 5 sheets from your felt. Cut along the outlines and cut out the triangle in the middle. 3. Print one coaster at a time and pause it after the 2mm layer has just finished (4mm for the magnet base). 4. Use non flamable glue on the felt and attach it to the print while it's paused. Make sure all sticks well and the felt lays perfectly flat. 5. Resume the print and watch the next layer carefully to make sure the plastic will stick to the felt and nothing curls up. 6. Let the print finish. I prepared a little video to show you the process: I hope you enjoy this project and have fun printing and using the coasters!
