Elegoo Neptune S2 Filament Pivot
thingiverse
I only occasionally need the Filament Runout Sensor and the remainder of the time it is in the way of loading the extruder. I decided it would be easy to design a hinge that would allow me to flip it out of the way when not needed but quickly deploy it when it is. The assembly requires no fasteners. The Base slides onto the existing mounting plate once the two screws and bushings are removed. The sensor snaps into the Mount and the Pin provides the pivot point. The cable attached to the sensor can remain in place BUT you need to insert a small length of filament to keep it activated. OR the wire can just be unplugged and the system will function as if it is not there. BTW - I'm disappointed in the functionality of the Runout Sensor. Yes, it stops the print and maintains the temp but that is it! No automated unload, reload, or purge of the filament. You have to manually grab the end and drag it out while disengaging the extruder tension and then shove the new filament back down and use enough force to get it to perge. My understanding is neither M600 or M0 is implemented in the firmware. Also because of this Cura's post-processing scripts to stop at a certain layer and change filament does not work. A glaring oversight in an otherwise nice printer.
