Elegoo Neptune 2 spool holder with bearings
cults3d
Because I was not pleased with the basic stock spool holder that comes with the Elegoo Neptune 2 I wanted to make a version with bearings that would fit on the stock 'arm'. With this upgrade the spool rotates more freely allowing smoother extrusion. Short clip of it working: https://youtu.be/pVNl4MvyVFA This type of spool holder design is not new and I have seen it for other printers, but I wanted to make one that would directly fit on the stock arm of the Elegoo Neptune 2. To complete the assembly you will need: An M8 threaded rod or bolt approx. 130mm in length Depending on the above 1 or 2 M8 lock nuts Two M8 washers Two 608 'skate' bearings See the exploded view for a detailed image of how to assemble. You can optionally print and use the nut driver for the assembly, it will fit inside of the spool holder. But if you manage to tighten the nut without it that's also fine. Please keep to these print settings, because of the tight tolerance between threads: Thread adapter: print at 0.12mm because of the fine thread Spool holder and nut for the spool holder: print at 0.2mm. The spool holder needs support in the middle for where the bearing will be afterwards.
