Electrolysis Electrode for Conductivity
thingiverse
These designs serve a broad purpose, as detailed in “Electrolysis Activation of Fused Filament Fabrication 3D Printed Electrodes for Electrochemical and Spectroelectrochemical Analysis”, which is published in the journal Analytical Chemistry. The DOI is 10.1021/acs.analchem.9b01331. This specific component is a modified version of the "electrolysis electrode" design, featuring a square end for conducting 4-point probe conductivity experiments. The square base can be easily removed after activating the electrode through electrolysis. Both ProtoPasta (https://www.proto-pasta.com/products/conductive-pla) and BlackMagic (http://www.blackmagic3d.com/default.asp) PLA-composite 3D printing filaments have been used to print this part. Additional details on conductivity enhancement can be found in the post-printing information. The electrode's activation, or enhancement of its conductivity, can be achieved through either a soaking process or an electrolysis process. Experimental results show that both methods yield enhancements exceeding three orders of magnitude.
