A Friend Requests a DIY Electrolux Dishwasher Basket: A Personalized Solution Created Using 3D Printing Technology My close acquaintance reached out to me and requested my assistance in recreating a defective part for his dishwasher. Specifically, he needed a new wheel assembly designed specifically for the Electrolux dishwasher basket that was not readily available as an original component. Given the replacement parts' scarcity, I agreed to undertake this challenge. To design this replica accurately, I aimed to mirror the original Electrolux wheel dimensions precisely. However, my Makerbot Replicator 2X experienced issues when printing with the intended scale due to slight inaccuracies that consistently resulted in slightly smaller than expected prints. In response to this issue, I implemented an intentional increase of 5% to the overall model's size, thereby aligning it closer to the actual dimensions found in the original design. During the creation process, strategic supports were placed throughout the internal mechanisms of the 3D printed piece to ensure their integrity and stability. Fortunately, my acquaintance was pleased with the end result as the custom-created wheel fitted perfectly within his dishwasher without any issues or hitches. The 123D Design software used to develop this innovative solution streamlined the process significantly, ensuring its efficient production.
