You can easily build a simple two-piece spool for electrical wires without needing any glue. The fit is likely to be extremely tight, so I used a clamp to squeeze the two parts of the spool together tightly. Make sure that before you join the two pieces, the hole in the cylinders are perfectly aligned. If they're not, you won't be able to attach the beginning of the wire to the spool.
