Electrical Switch / Outlet Junction Box

Electrical Switch / Outlet Junction Box

I frequently repurpose electrical outlet junction boxes as project enclosures when working with AC. Locating low-profile single gang boxes is a breeze, but triple gang boxes can be elusive. After a trip to my local hardware store yielded nothing, I turned to SketchUp (despite its reputation for 3D print modeling, it does get the job done) and whipped up this design tonight. Although I only needed the three-gang version, extracting the other two was relatively straightforward. For my specific application, all I required were mounting holes on the bottom of the box, along with a single hole for the AC in-line connection. This is a simple enough design to implement. Using your preferred CAD software, you can easily add mounting tabs or holes to suit your needs. Alternatively, if you opt for 100% infill, simply drill holes as required.
