electrical jigsaw - styrofoam cutter
thingiverse
In this hobby project, we transformed the traditional jigsaw into a "hotwire" version for easy styrofoam cutting. The instructions are printed in PLA with 20% infill and 0.1mm layer height. To assemble, you'll need two stripped wire clips (German: "Luesterklemme") with screws for 1.5mm² wires. For the electrical part, use 0.3mm 19 Ohm/m Kanthal resistor wire. The optimal voltage and current for styrofoam cutting are achieved with an adjustable power supply at 3.1V and 1.25A; feel free to experiment with other resistor wires and values.
