Electric outboard propeller
thingiverse
The blades for my Bison electric outboard motor were looking quite worn so I decided to give creating one with the 3D printer using 123D Design CAD software a try. It's not an exact replica but pretty similar and fits very well, plus it might work on other brands as I've noticed some have really identical-looking props. Update 8/7/2016 : Firstly, apologies for taking so long to share this update with you all. After testing the first version in the water, it ended up being a bit underpowered due to the blades being too thin so I designed another set which are slightly thicker and more rigid for better thrust. I've also created a third version that can be printed as one complete piece if you have a 200x200mm build bed. This model was made with the same center part (or prop head) I drew up using CAD software, but the blades were generated using a 3D scanner to scan the original blades. The 3D scan is extremely accurate so the blades on this version are really a perfect copy of the Bison prop blades. The blades were then merged with the center part in 123D Design to create a final STL file for the whole prop. If you attempt to print this version, keep in mind that supports will be required and I'd suggest at least 20% infill. I did try scanning the entire prop but there was too much detail on the center piece to get a usable model. Update 16/8/2016 : Some minor tweaking of the whole prop version to improve fit and reduce friction. I would recommend this version if you have a large enough build plate as it is the closest to the original prop and provides way more thrust.
