This is an Electric Longboard Build Using Advanced Materials! Updates with Parts and Info Coming Soon! Print Settings Printer Brand: RepRap Kossel Rafts: Not Necessary Supports: None Needed Resolution: 0.2mm Precision Infill: 50%+ for Strength Notes: My printer has a slight scaling issue, printing objects slightly larger than intended. To achieve accurate prints, set the scale to 1.04 or adjust as needed. Design Stage This longboard design was created with minimal modifications to standard designs. It's specifically tailored for Paris 180mm trucks and Mini Zombie Hawgs 70mm wheels. Calculations were made using online tools like http://howtomakeanelectricskateboard.com/uncategorized/calculating-speed/ and https://sdp-si.com/eStore/CenterDistanceDesigner. My calculations can be found at https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1gJeRP7Vhj6fS98MTebyMgqO89QH-d8qTT2ORjQjKGoQ/edit?usp=sharing. HTD5M (5mm tooth pitch) is the chosen drive due to its ease of 3D printing. Ideally, an under 300kv motor would be preferred for good torque, but the Turnigy Aerodrive SK3 63mm motors were out of stock on hobbyking's website. Specs The design revolves around a 5mm HTD belt profile, aiming for a gear ratio close to 1:3. A pinion with 12 teeth and an output gear of 30 teeth was settled upon (keeping at least 5 teeth in mesh on the pinion). With a 40-tooth belt, this creates a CTC distance of 1.78" (45.21mm), using the HTD 200-5M-09 belt from eBay. The motor is a 42mm 500kv motor, which might be low in torque for this application. It's mounted using a motor mount bar from hobbyking: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__19610__NTM_Prop_Drive_Series_42_58_500kv_1300w.html. The pinion gear was purchased on aliexpress, available in 5mm and 6.35mm (1/4") bore versions: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/5pcs-lot-HTD5M-Pulley-12-Tooth-5mm-Bore-for-12mm-Belt/32390838072.html?spm=2114.13010608.0.103.kxTw2p. The spur gear is 3D printed in PLA and uses M4 SHCS that screw into the hub, providing a secure fit. Installation Hardware Required: 7 pcs M4 x 40mm socket head cap screws 1 pcs 1/4" x 1/2" long coarse button head screw 1 pcs 42mm brushless motor mount (e.g. http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__23789__NTM_42_Carbon_Fibre_Motor_Mount.html) 1 pcs HTD 200-5M timing belt 1 pcs HTD 5M 12T pulley Testing A stray wire blew up my controller; I'll update when that's sorted out.
