Electric Guitar Holiday Ornament
thingiverse
This miniature ornament was designed from scratch using Solidworks software, compiled seamlessly with the robust features of KISS Slicer, and brought to life at the Dallas Makerspace facility. The time for Christmas ornaments may be a bit premature, but I had an irresistible urge to create tiny plastic guitars as an excuse to push my creative boundaries. Upon completing its initial design, I made some crucial adjustments to enhance its functionality in the image. This included adding a convenient string attachment system and a sturdy hanger feature - both completely optional features that greatly elevate the ornament's overall appeal. Print Settings: Printer: Polyprinter 229 Rafts: Unnecessary at this scale Supports: Strategically employed for added stability Resolution: Set to medium for optimal results Infill: Achieved at 12.5 percent, striking a perfect balance between lightness and durability Notes: When printing this design, take note that support material will accumulate under the guitar's neck. This can be easily mitigated by using coarse support for effortless cleanup. Post-Printing: To give my ornament in the photograph its vibrant look, I meticulously cleaned off the excess support material before applying two coats of gray primer, multiple layers of Krylon glitter blast in a radiant lucky green hue, and finally sealing it with clear acrylic. A flexible gold-colored string perfectly complements this festive miniature masterpiece.
