Electric Ducted Fan for VTOL drone
grabcad
The Electric Ducted Fan for VTOL drones features a brushless motor with a maximum power of 35kW, a max RPM of 13,400/min, and a rotor diameter of 500mm. It has 12 blades with an airfoil stator that increases thrust by 10-15%. The stator blades are in low-speed airflow due to lower air resistance and serve as safety features. Wavy trailing edges on the duct reduce noise when outer airflow meets high-speed inner airflow, similar to the Boeing 787. Knife-shaped blades work well for subsonic air speeds. The motor is positioned upstream of the rotor with blades, and an exterior laminar airfoil decreases drag at cruise speed. A gap of 1mm exists between the blade tip and ring. Blades are printed using a carbon fiber 3D printer.
