Elder Wand - with Core

thingiverse

This all started when I wanted to print the fantastic wand that was designed by jakereeves but wanted to print it broken up vertically, and rather than having to stick the pieces together, create some sort of screw fitting........but what is a wand without a core?!\nIn true Wizarding World fashion, I have created a wand where you can print whichever core has picked you! Why not try....\nA cherry red dragon heart string\nA pearly white unicorn hair\nA golden phoenix tail feather\nThis wand is printed in 4 parts. A handle, a central section, a tip and a core. The core is used to hold all the other 3 sections together, and remains hidden inside the wand. The core can only be revealed by unscrewing the tip and removing the central section.\nWARNING: Always ask permission of the wand owner before revealing the core - it is magical after all and can be temperamental. Unfortunately, we cannot be held responsible for any spells back-firing.\nUPDATE: I have also included an extended version of this wand which makes it accurate to 15 inches. You might want to check it fits on your print bed as the height of the print is 154mm.\nPrint Settings\nPrinter Brand:\n MakerBot\n \n Printer:\n MakerBot Replicator 2\n \n Supports:\n No\n \n Resolution:\n 0.2\n \n Infill:\n 10%\n \n Notes:\n The wand_core will need to be printed with a raft, the other files can be printed without.\nAll printed in Faberdashery's fantastic PLA:\nGinny Weasley Wand - Woodland Brown\nLuna Lovegood Wand - Desert Tan\nElder Wand - Earl Grey\nDragon Heart String Core - Cherry Sour\nUnicorn Hair Core - Pearly White\nPhoenix Tail Feather Core - Bling Bling Gold\nElder Wand Core (created by death himself) - Smoky Black\nPost-Printing\nAssembling Your Wand\n Screw the core into the handle\nSlide the central section over the core\nScrew the tip on to the end of the core\n\n \n \n Tips:\nSome people have reported issues with the slender top of the middle section having a split. This occurs in the slicing software. A quick fix is to scale the design up to 125% (as long as your printer can handle the height!). Just don't forget to also scale up your core so that everything fits together nicely.\nAlternatively, try printing this version:https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2418915
