<p><i>This is the first part of the </i><a href="https://www.prusaprinters.org/social/134509-astrophage/collections/122799"><i>Harry Potter Spell Casting Spatula Set</i></a><i> series. </i></p><p> </p><h3>Overview</h3><p>Inspired by the <a href="https://www.lecreuset.com/spellcasting-spatulas-set/JS400HP-7F.html">Le Creuset HARRY POTTER™</a> <a href="https://www.williams-sonoma.com/products/le-creuset-harry-potter-spatula-set/">Spellcasting Spatulas set</a> (sadly no longer available for purchase) the Elder Wand Spatula brings magic back into the kitchen. </p><p>It is designed to fit the <a href="https://www.amazon.com/KitchenAid-Universal-Bamboo-Handle-Spatula/dp/B0888SYTSL/">KitchenAid Universal Bamboo</a> <a href="https://www.target.com/p/kitchenaid-bamboo-handle-mixer-spatula-aqua-sky/-/A-79652845">Handle Mixer Spatula</a>. </p><p>The spatula handle is based on the incredible model <a href="https://www.prusaprinters.org/prints/4629-the-elder-wand-from-harry-potter-single-and-multim">The Elder Wand from Harry Potter</a> by <a href="https://www.prusaprinters.org/social/3298-jason-foss/about">Jason Foss</a> and reworked to fit the use. The spatula end was designed in <a href="https://cad.onshape.com/documents/54ffcd4040b54374ef1bc4a0/w/4c96991f34fef0a710197a4e/e/53d54a53d50cdf956446ee47">OnShape</a> and is included as its own piece for quick and easy remixing.</p><p> </p><figure class="table"><table><thead><tr><th colspan="2"><h3>Print Settings</h3></th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>Printer</td><td>Prusa Mini+</td></tr><tr><td>Brim</td><td>Yes</td></tr><tr><td>Supports</td><td>Yes / Custom <i>(see .3mf file)</i></td></tr><tr><td>Resolution</td><td>0.20mm SPEED <i>(helps reduce clogs)</i></td></tr><tr><td>Infill</td><td>20</td></tr><tr><td>Perimeters</td><td>4 <i>(for added strength)</i></td></tr><tr><td>Filament</td><td><a href="https://www.microcenter.com/product/632373/inland-175mm-pla-wood-3d-printer-filament-05-kg-spool-(11-lbs)">Inland 1.75mm PLA Wood </a></td></tr><tr><td>Filament Profile</td><td>Filatech Wood - PLA</td></tr><tr><td>Seam Position</td><td>Random <i>(easier to remove by sanding)</i></td></tr></tbody></table></figure><p>I printed this using <a href="https://www.microcenter.com/product/632373/inland-175mm-pla-wood-3d-printer-filament-05-kg-spool-(11-lbs)">Inland Wood PLA</a> which is a wood-like filament but doesn't have any physical pieces of wood. Take care while using these tools</i></p><ol><li>Once the pieces are printed, check that the top and bottom parts fit tightly together. You might need to take a sharp blade to remove any filament strings that are in the way. <br> </li><li>Cut a 260mm length from the zinc-plated round rod using a pair of bolt cutters. Then file down the sharp edges using a metal rasp. Test that the stiffener rod fits inside the two parts and they fit with no gap.<br> </li><li>Mix glue and apply to the inside of stiffener rod holes and to the adjoining surfaces, and use a clamp or rubber band to apply a slight pressure until the glue sets.<br> </li><li>After the glue has set, clean up any excess with a sharp blade and then smooth out imperfections using assorted grit sandpaper. <br> </li><li>Apply stain and let it dry completely, then coat with a food safe epoxy. <i>(The Inland Wood did not absorb stain well and required a drying time of ~24 hours)</i></li></ol>
