ElastoStraps - Reusable Hook / Loop Fasteners
thingiverse
ElastoStraps are reusable hook and loop fasteners, fabricated from soft PLA. Discover a video demonstration at: http://youtu.be/4H6pfnI9fd0. To learn more about these straps, visit http://www.nothinglabs.com. Simply stretch them around two objects you want to secure together, and cover the mesh with hooks (it's alright if not all hooks catch). These innovative fasteners were designed by me for tasks such as attaching lights to a bicycle. Customize the size of your strap using Thingiverse Customizer or print one of the provided .STL files. ElastoStraps exhibit remarkable strength when printed with 100% infill and 1.25mm thickness. For optimal results, test them with "Flex EcoPLA" available at makergeeks.com and other stores. Share your experiences using different flexible filaments, and I'll feature them on this page. Printing in soft PLA may be challenging; refer to this presentation (http://nothinglabs.blogspot.com/2013/09/filament-roundup-3d-printing-in-all.html) for tips. If you face issues with prints peeling up, try using a glue stick on the print area; this trick can be quite helpful. Lastly, if you struggle with filament binding in your extruder, consider installing this extruder upgrade (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:53125).
