In 2011, Monument 78 came to light during municipal drainage works near the Colonia Maya school, which now occupies much of what was once El Baúl's central monument area. The sculpture depicts a skeleton in dynamic stance, possibly signifying dance. Typical attributes in Late Classic Cotzumalguapa art include hanging intestines between the legs and hands and feet with skin.
