Cotzumalhuapa sculptures often feature perforations or cavities, which were likely used to attach ornaments made from various materials. The ear holes and head cavities on the seated figure of Monument 5 undoubtedly served to hold pendants and other accessories in place. Characters with their arms crossed over their chests are common; I believe they represent funerary sculptures.
