Ekobots - Levitator with arduino.
thingiverse
Human: Magnetic Levitation Toy with Arduino. Easy to print and mount - just some glue, no screws needed. Install the firmware (Levitator.ino) in the Arduino board. No computer required, just a 12V power supply after installing the firmware. Use a stick to adjust the magnet position by switching the magnets with the switches. Check the correct value using the Arduino serial monitor and hard code it into your toy if needed. All parts are included on one plate for your convenience. Have fun! My videos showcase different versions of this project: Video 1: Using three block magnets, a threaded rod, and a printed part (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w-jtu5cxl9o) Video 2: Featuring a cube magnet and an Ufo_01 3D printed part (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nXplyDKqs2s) Video 3: Demonstrating two cylinder magnets with a specific configuration (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AIz9ystIPUo) Required components: 1. Arduino Board (Nano for shield compatibility) 1. Electromagnet - ZYE1-P25/20, 12V, 25mm diameter, 20mm height ($7 on eBay) 1. Linear hall effect sensor - 49e (ebay Kit 5, $1.50) 1. Magnet cube 10mm or magnet sphere 10mm 1. Darlington Transistor NPN - TIP120 1. Resistor 1K ohm 1. Diode N4007 1. Power supply 12V 1A ($2 on eBay) 2. Micro switch Important notes: * Position the hall sensor at the bottom of the tip (top_sensor.stl) as shown in the images. * Ensure the hall effect sensor is at least 5mm away from the electromagnetic for proper function. * Use neodymium permanent magnets; common magnets will not work. * Heavy objects provide better stability. Consider upgrading with: * Safety mode in the code to turn off the electromagnet if the permanent magnet falls * A curved arm to hold the electromagnet, allowing bigger objects and more free space * Hall effect sensor placement below the permanent magnet for accurate measurements and stable levitation
