The ejection seat of the Gripen aircraft, officially known as the MB Mk. S10 LS, has been recreated with geometric accuracy. Unlike 3D scans, this model was painstakingly drawn from pictures and blueprints. The original seat's angle is a notable feature, tilted backward by 27 degrees. Each major component is organized into its own layer, while subassemblies are grouped together in sublayers for easy toggling on or off. Every individual object is separate, allowing for further editing as needed. Unfortunately, the model has not been unwrapped and features some overlap due to its original design intent: importing it directly into DCS World, a game that is insensitive to such issues. A less detailed version of this seat, which was designed without such limitations, continues to work well in the game environment. Collecting data and pictures for this project took two years, followed by an additional year spent planning and drawing the design. Regrettably, I do not have another year to devote to unwrapping hundreds of objects.
