Peace and prosperity are depicted as two loving figures. Pausanias, a renowned Greek traveler, chronicled a remarkable sculpture crafted by Kephisodotos, which showed Peace cradling Wealth in her arms, a gift to the Athenians. The original piece was likely forged from bronze and proudly displayed in the heart of Athens, the Agora. However, this Roman replica may have undergone modifications, possibly including the child's head, which might not be an authentic part of the original work. This sculpture was likely created to commemorate a significant event: either the establishment of a cult dedicated to Eirene in 374 BCE, following a peace treaty with Sparta, or another pivotal moment in 371 BCE when Greece collectively signed a lasting peace agreement.
