This is a redesign of the Einsy board box to mount the board outside of the enclosure.

The four screws for the board should be long enough to go through the board and to the inside of the enclosure to attach the box to the side wall.

Positioning of the box approx 2" above the surface level inside the enclosure and at least 4" away from the back leg works well for me.

4 M3 12mm screws, 5 square M3 nuts and 1 M3 20mm screw are required to attach the cable clips and screw the door closed. M3 hardware to mount the board depends on the thickness of your enclosure's walls. In this design there is no place to slot the nylon filament.

The extruder bundle exits at the top, the heated bed bundle at the left side (using the clips). The x bundle leaves through the slot on the right hand side inside the box. The y and z axis cables come in to the box through the left hand rounded slot. Power cables and power panic come in through the bottom as normal.

If a pi Zero is being used then there is a break out panel and you many need longer mounting screws for the board and some standoffs.

To come in future updates:

Printable drawing of the slots / holes that will need to be cut in the side panel to accomodate this box. - Done 27/10/2019. Swapped for an image of proper scale 04/11/2019.
Add slot in top of case for ribbon cables to display. - Done 02/05/2020
Small reduction in material use in hinge on body by cutting away the central portion of cylinder which is not required for strength - Done 02/05/2020
Update version for Body to 2.01 - 02/05/2020

Tweak to the hinge design. It sometimes grates slightly as it's opening. This does not cause a problem with function but makes an unpleasant noise.

Descriptions of material you need to remove after printing. There are some small sacrificial bridges in the board mounting holes and some material to support the print around the square nut securing the lid.

Note that this borrows some features for the board mounting and usb / reset holes from the original board box that comes with your printer (at the time of writing / mk3s). These features have all been modeled fresh rather than using the features from their original SCAD file.

Print instructions

This should require no special supports. Set to "from build plate only" when printing the body or "none" for the other parts.

0.4mm nozzle 0.2mm layer height.

The print would likely curl at the edges in a drafty environment if printing a higher temp material.

The pictured print was from ABS in a fairly well sealed enclosure.
