The Einscan-S stands out as one of the first 3D capture devices capable of accurately capturing tooling and machine parts at an affordable price point under $4000. However, its performance falls short in some areas. The software lacks complexity and is missing essential features. For instance, once you select something to delete from a scan, you cannot easily deselect it. There are several other issues as well. One glaring mistake made by the manufacturer was designing the device with screw sizes that do not fit standard tripod mounts. As a result, users must rely on their optional tripod, which is of poor quality. To overcome this limitation, I opted to use my own high-quality tripod and created a custom adapter using CAD software. The adapter features a hole for the screw under the camera/projector unit, eliminating the need for any tools. I then scanned the top of the stand that comes with the Einscan-S using the device itself. Using 3D-Coat, I added the captured data to my custom mount design in CAD. Both versions are included here. The modified tripod can be used with a variety of tripods, such as the one found at https://www.amazon.com/Adjustable-Tripod-Monopod-Camera-Aluminum/dp/B00ORH1PGA/ref=sr_1_16?s=photo&ie=UTF8&qid=1475637091&sr=1-16&keywords=tripod. There are numerous other tripods available that can be adapted for use with the Einscan-S. Nylon is the recommended material, but PLA will also work well.
