Egyptian wood mummy mask

This mask depicts a mummy from the late period, specifically the 30th Dynasty or later (circa 380-332 B.C.). Its almond-shaped eyes and prominent cosmetic lines are characteristic of this era's funeral art. The defined lids and brow are outlined in black, while full lips curve into a subtle smile. Remnants of black gesso still adorn the wig, further exemplifying the distinctive style of this time period. This piece was sold at Bonhams' Antiquities Sale on July 6th, 2017.
