The item was thoroughly examined by the distinguished Egyptologist Joann Fletcher. She concluded that the Egyptian head dates back to the Middle Kingdom period, around 1850-1800 BC. According to her analysis, this sculpture is likely a likeness of King Sesostris III, who reigned at that time and was known for his distinctive large ears. Male officials who served under these same monarchs were frequently depicted in small stone figurines that mimicked their rulers' features.
