The khopesh is an Egyptian sickle-sword that evolved from battle axes. A typical khopesh measures 50–60 cm in length, although smaller examples also exist. The blunted edge of the weapon's tip serves as a highly effective bludgeon and hook. These weapons transitioned from bronze to iron during the New Kingdom period.
