EGR Cooler Valve Hack Diesel N47N
thingiverse
This is a very specific BMW Diesel Engine modification I made for my 2011 BMW 320D E91 LCI with the N47N Engine. The diesel engine comes equipped with an EGR System and an EGR cooling system, which unfortunately causes an annoying tick-tick noise when activated. The EGR Cooler also has a bypass during warm-up until the cooling water reaches 60°C, at which point it's activated by a valve controlled by a vacuum switch. If you bypass this vacuum switch, you'll ensure that the EGR cooler never activates because the vacuum will constantly open the EGR bypass. Over 2800 RPM, the EGR cooler is never active and the EGR cooler bypass is always on, effectively changing part-load behavior without affecting the EGR valve's operation. To implement this modification, click into the EGR Cooler bypass switch and hold the hose connector to bypass the switch. Use shrink hose and small plugs to seal the vacuum switch connections and prevent dirt from entering. This ensures that you can easily revert to standard configuration if needed. More information on this mod can be found by searching online; however, keep in mind that any modification is done at your own risk, and this one increases NOx emissions during part-load operation.
