Eggbot Sine and Lace Extension

Eggbot Sine and Lace Extension

thingiverse

Sine and Lace is an Inkscape extension designed for use with the Eggbot to create sinusoidal and lacy patterns. The period of these patterns must be a multiple of the document size. Two curves made using this extension can be selected, after which a third curve will be drawn within the boundaries of the first two. The primary purpose of this extension is to generate fun designs for egg decorating. Before you can use this extension, download the eggbot_sineandlace.py and eggbot_sineandlace.inx files from the provided page. Place these files in your local Inkscape extension folder (e.g., ~/.config/inkscape/extensions on Linux and OS X, or directly in the Inkscape extension directory on Windows). After placing the files correctly, exit and restart Inkscape to access the extension under "Extensions > Eggbot Contributed" as "Sine and Lace...". To use the extension, set eleven fields including width (typically document width), height, number of cycles (periods), starting phase angle, recede from envelope, number of sample points, and starting coordinates. You can also choose between a sine wave or lacy pattern by selecting the appropriate checkbox. Finally, to bound a curve with two previously drawn curves, select them and then choose "Extensions > Eggbot Contributed > Sine and Lace...". Note that you cannot use a curve that has been previously bounded in this process.
