Eggbot re-redrawn
thingiverse
I fell in love with the revised Eggbot, but encountered a minor problem with the pen arm and struggled to make the spring work with my servo. I decided to go back to the original Eggbot design and let gravity do its magic. To begin, I simply taped over the hole for the spring, but then I wanted to create a new Onshape project to redraw the pen arm. Next, I added a small plateau to the arm to reduce the amount of servo travel required, followed by some fillets to smooth out the edges. As a result, I ended up redrawing all of the parts to round them out and make them more refined. All those sharp corners just didn't seem right for an eggbot - I wanted something more organic! Thankfully, everything printed perfectly except for the back plate, which needed a tiny bit of support to prevent warping due to its rounded top and bottom. I would also recommend flipping the right support 180 degrees before printing so that the build plate side faces away from the user when assembled. You can find my Onshape document here: https://cad.onshape.com/documents/774b51d220b28ea0c04bc11c/w/db743683a4ab88a0a85f960f/e/4351b138d554a8d00c2558a4 I still need to tidy up the assembly, but for now, it's taking a backseat.
