Egg for Vase Mode

Egg for Vase Mode

thingiverse

This model was crafted specifically for printing in vase mode, perfect for Easter. The base is flat to avoid the need for supports entirely. The idea behind this design is to drop small treasures or surprises into the egg while it prints. Since the egg is printed in vase mode with thin walls, it's incredibly easy to break open and discover the hidden surprise inside. This concept was born out of the necessity to create more eggs for our family Easter Egg Hunt next week. As we're stuck at home due to COVID-19 and grocery stores are limiting purchases, our eggs have become truly precious commodities. We wanted an alternative to hard boiling and dyeing eggs that our kids would actually enjoy later. Tip: It's probably best not to fill the egg with chocolate or other items that can melt easily. Printed using Simplify3D in single outline corkscrew printing mode (vase mode) with a 0.15 mm layer height, 0% infill, and 1 outline/perimeter shell. I also used 5 bottom layers and 7 top layers to ensure the spiral print would close properly. I printed mine using duplication mode for added precision.
