Educational model: Gas vesicle / scale 1:5,000,000
prusaprinters
The 3D model is based on data from our recent preprint:Huber et. al, Cryo-EM structure of gas vesicles for buoyancy-controlled motility, BioRxiv (2022)It consists of two identical half-shells made from 865 copies of the 7.5 kDa protein GvpA, 38 copies of the ~22 kDa protein GvpC attached on the outside and a stand. The half-shells can be moved against each other to illustrate our proposed mechanism of growth and monomer insertion. GvpC can be added by clipping it onto alpha-helix 2 of the GvpA monomer with little regularly spaced hooks corresponding to the 5x33AA repeats of GvpC.The half-shells are cut in 3 parts for easier printing and have to be glued with e.g. epoxy glue.Expect to take ~120 hours of printing and ~half a kilogram of filament, equal to ~10-15 Euro of printing costs.I included files for a 50% scale model as well. The .mmcif file of the 3D model is deposited on zenodo:https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.6458345
