eDNA collection - filtration air intake housing for blower fan

prusaprinters

This is a filtration air intake housing for a blower fan (Delta Electronics, BFB1024HH, 97.2 X33 mm, 24vDC).  We designed this for use in eDNA (environmental DNA) collection.  The filter (thickness up to ~4mm) can be cut to size (a circle of diameter ~68mm), placed above the honeycomb grid of the fan_housing, then the filter_ring is placed on top to compress and secure the filter.  The fan is then connected and operated for a period of time in your chosen location of interest.  The filter can then be removed and the eDNA eluted via a solvent and process of your choice.  Connecting the filter_housing to the blower fan requires two m4 screws with nuts and washers or you can use a bent paperclip for rapid attaching/removal.We have successfully printed this with a Prusa SL1s using Prusament tough resin, and with a Prusa MK4 with PETG filament.
