Thomas Edison may not be the first person to invent the electric light bulb, as some versions dated back to 1802; however, he was responsible for creating the first commercially viable one. Despite the fact that there were already 23 other inventors who had come up with their own designs of light bulbs before Edison, his work stood out due to its commercial viability.
