EDF Test Stand
thingiverse
This is an advanced, safety-enhanced Electric Ducted Fan (EDF) test stand designed for fans up to 120mm and 12kg thrust. The fan pushes downward, securing itself in place within the adapter. Easy removal and reinsertion allow for seamless balancing, such as after replacing the impeller. Utilize a standard kitchen scale with high precision accuracy. Employ a front wheel hub from an old bike as a low-friction balance point. Cut from 18mm plywood, the balance board's actual dimensions can be found in the balanceboard SCAD or STL file. Use standard fitness weight discs to balance out the thrust. Begin loading 4kg from the start of the test and possibly add more kg during testing if necessary. Math calculations will follow afterwards with confidence. Employ a lightweight plastic board as the protective screen, often collected for free after election day in some areas. Tape two layers together for stability and added robustness.
