ECX Torment Caster Block
thingiverse
Smashed a caster block getting ready for the track the next day. Even with big internet retail companies offering super shipping services, I still couldn't get one here in time. I dug around the net a bit and didn't find anything useful, so I decided to whip one up myself. It isn't perfect, but it is definitely stronger than stock. At 100% infill and .28 layer height, I can barely flex it. Next to the stock, there's a noticeable difference - this one being a good bit stronger. The spindle screw holes are starter holes, they're centered, but not the correct size. I opted for drilling them out myself so they would be cleaner. The spindle fits in nicely, tighter than stock, but not tight enough to bind. Every printer is different, though - if it's a bit tight, sandpaper will save the day. I'm replacing the other side with a printed one as I type, and I'll leave my stock for a track spare. But I doubt I'll need it. 1.0 is pictured, 2.0 just removes the bottom corner where it meets the LCA. I originally used old plates to clear the LCA, cutting the corner in the model is a bit nicer. I don't see any difference in strength between the two.
