ECS MH Coasters
thingiverse
To give a run down, The ECS (Empire city subway) manholes are a set of manholes/covers used in the Manhattan an Bronx boroughs of NYC. These drink coasters are model of the covers themselves which have a series of hexagons representing the telecom coverage. In NYC all Fiber is either passed through these MHs or aerially fed on telephone poles. The real MHs are 28" (72.1cm) in diameter while these replicas measure ~3.25" (8.3cm). I've always had an interest in the infrastructure that runs the city and the hidden world of engineering that goes into it. So the next time you open a brew to watch the game or a cup of coffee for the race, throw it down onto a coaster that powers that reminds of the backbone of the information highway.
