This reusable filament spool is designed specifically for use with environmentally friendly ECOrefill filament that arrives sans spool, held together by zip ties. To conserve natural resources, you're encouraged to 3D print your own reusable spool. Instructions for assembling the spool are straightforward: You'll need two identical halves that snap together using zip ties or similar materials. Simply 3D print two pieces from the ECOrefill_spool.stl file provided. To complete the spool, cut along the dashed lines of the cardboard box that comes with the ECOrefill filament to create the sides. This design is specifically intended for use with cardboard boxes and includes a template for cutting the box in the Thing Files section. For those who prefer not to 3D print their own spools, they can be purchased online from our store. However, using reusable filaments like ECOrefill is an environmentally friendly option that saves resources. Standard filament rolls often come on plastic spools, which are used once and discarded. These spools also add unnecessary weight to shipping packages, weighing around 200-300 grams. In contrast, our reusable spool weighs approximately 100 grams (dependent on print settings). By choosing ECOrefill filaments without plastic spools, you're helping us conserve natural resources. The 0.8 kg ECOrefill filament is compatible with RichRap's MasterSpool. This design can be printed using a 3D printer with a build plate as small as 11 x 11 cm (example: FlashForge Finder).
