They allow for positioning of the sensor face at 90 degrees and 100 degrees relative to the mounting surface. Ecobee suggests installing their Smart Sensor at a height of 4-5 feet. However, this recommendation is deemed too visually intrusive by many users. Additionally, the sensor's design, which mimics a door handle, may pose a safety risk for young children. The modified adapters offer an alternative solution, enabling mounting above a doorway (at a 110-degree angle) or below the standard height of 4-5 feet (at a 90-degree angle). It is crucial to note that users should retain the mounting clips provided with the Smart Sensor. These clips are integrated into the custom adapters and serve as the primary means of securing the sensor in place. To install the sensor, simply attach the clip and adapter combination to the desired surface.
