Eclipse Hex / Action Card Cages
thingiverse
Another key project in my "Get My Eclipse Box Under Control" endeavor is these hexagonal containers, or cages. Recognizing that the hexes and action/summary cards are nearly identical in size, I've repurposed the model to accommodate both space hexes and rectangular Action Phase and other summary cards within a single 3D printed case. Three of these cages will be necessary for Eclipse Core as well as Rise of the Ancients. Ample room is also available for expansion with Shadow of the Rift. These containers were designed in tandem with my ship parts holder, and the fusion of the two projects has significantly reduced clutter within my original Eclipse box. Each cage can hold 36 tiles/cards. The lid serves a dual purpose: it prevents the towers from becoming bent while inside the box due to the thin base, and it keeps tiles from spilling out. A combination of these cages and the ship parts tray has drastically cleaned up the box, allowing me to store the ship pack parts as well. These containers have turned out exceptionally well, so I'm designating this project complete.
