Echo Dot Wall Mount
thingiverse
This is a wall mount designed specifically for the Amazon Echo Dot version 2. The screw hole countersinks are oversized to recess an No.8 woodscrew and provide clearance from the Echo Dot. The design was inspired by a creation on IMakeThisLookGood's thingiverse page, but with thicker walls to ensure it can withstand life in a teenager's room. Print Settings: Printer Brand: Wanhao Printer: Wanhao Duplicator i3 V2 Rafts: No Supports: No Infill: 20% Notes: Printed with standard settings for ABS and an 8mm brim to aid adhesion. The wall mount was printed the correct way up, but there is no reason not to invert it if a greater contact area with the print bed is desired. The printer used prints smoother in the Y axis compared to the X axis due to the increased bearing spacing. As a result, the side arms of the wall mount were aligned to the Y axis, with the back hidden by the Echo Dot when in use. Post-Printing: Deburring was done using a sharp knife blade dragged at 90 degrees to the print edges, followed by a light sanding with P240 grade sandpaper and a sanding block to remove any layer lines. This wall mount was designed using Tinkercad. The design process began with a cylinder 10mm larger all round than an Echo Dot, which then had an Echo Dot-sized hole cut into it along with a slightly smaller hole for the front opening. The top and bottom segments were removed to create the basic shape, followed by the addition of screw holes and rotation of the piece 90 degrees before printing.
