This design accepts a Echo Dot Gen3 but includes an adapter ring allowing older Gen2 Dots to be used as well. The original Candlestick telephone I designed for the Gen2 Dot couldn't be altered enough to accept a Gen3; photos included reveal why - the Gen3 is significantly larger than its predecessor. A new, larger design was necessary to encase a Gen3. Placing it in the speaker portion proved impossible, so it was relocated to the base. A base ring was designed not only for clearance but also for venting holes, enhancing audio quality. I believe this looks good and works well at hiding the Echo Dot Gen3 in an attractive ancient illusion. Printing: all parts were printed with PLA (CCTREE) on my CR-10s without supports; they turned out fine. I print slowly - 25mm/s speed - if you choose to print faster, you may need supports or other printing aids. My only suggestion is to print the DOME using fuzzy skin (CURA), but you can print as you prefer. The base pipe used was a 3/4" sprinkler pipe; adapters are provided for using almost any material you have on hand, scaling it down to fit.
