Echo Dot + Freemo Cradle
thingiverse
I was searching for a way to securely fasten my Echo Dot with Freemo Evo battery base in both outdoor settings - on the patio table and down by the pool. In each location, I required the ability to attach the Echo device to the umbrella pole. Unfortunately, the diameter of the patio umbrella's pole differed from that of our offset umbrella at the pool, necessitating two distinct designs. Credit goes to mdietz for the customizable clamp, which allowed me to create these variations. Additionally, I included the bare cradle STL and step files, as they can serve as a starting point for other mounting solutions. Initially, when attempting to open the larger clamp, it broke due to weak hinges; therefore, in this design, I have significantly reinforced it beyond what is necessary. However, this extra support does the job effectively. Although I haven't modified the smaller clamp yet, as it opened without issue, I might revisit that one later and add additional reinforcement if needed. As for the hardware, I utilized a few spare pins and sufficient screws and washers to secure the clamp in place. I will update this post once I have accurately measured these components.
