The iconic Garden of Philosophy stands proudly on Gellért Hill, a masterpiece crafted by renowned sculptor Nandor Wagner. Eight majestic bronze statues comprise this striking monument, each one radiating the essence of different cultures and faiths from around the globe. At its center, five figures - Abraham, Echnaton, Jesus, Buddha, and Lao Tse - stand united, symbolizing the rich tapestry of human experience. Meanwhile, Mahatma Gandhi, Daruma Taishi, and Saint Francis, three influential spiritual leaders from various eras, surround them, their presence a testament to the enduring power of enlightenment. This poignant composition beautifully illustrates humanity's journey toward understanding and unity, with its message of mutual respect and harmony echoing across cultures and centuries. Three complete sets of these statues were cast, each one destined for a different land: Japan, Hungary, and the United States. The Hungarian set was unveiled in 2001, a gift to the nation that continues to inspire and uplift all who lay eyes on it.
