The "clip on" mount for the EC board features an optional fan base to keep it cool. It was designed as an easy interchange between the extruder and Unicorn pen plotter, eliminating the need to bolt on and off the controller for different tools. To fabricate, use a 3D printer with six M3 by 16mm bolts, nuts, and standoffs for assembly. Slide the completed assembly onto the MakerBot's acrylic z-stage, ensuring it doesn't obstruct Z-stage movement. Secure the 40mm by 40mm fan with hot glue. For optimal build time and mount strength, print the controller mount with its maximum surface area on the build platform, but be aware that reducing surface area may result in a stronger clip.
