eBellows - Electronic Fireplace Bellows
thingiverse
This hand-wound impeller fan bellows for the log fire in the dining room requires a noisy handle turn. However, a quieter version was created that runs on AA batteries. The design is based on http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:7350 with modifications including a handle and battery holder additions. Additionally, the parametrics have been improved. When run on 12V, it even surpasses a 110mm forge blower's performance. To assemble, print the case, impeller, and lid. Attach the motor to the lid using two M3 screws or similar. Warm the motor shaft and insert it into the base of the impeller hole, keeping printing goo strands intact as they function as a filter. Ensure that the impeller does not interfere with the motor mounting screws, is centered on the shaft, and rotates in the right direction to push air out of the outlet. Fix the lid to the case using three small countersunk wood screws. To create the battery compartment, melt aluminium foil or a beer can slice to connect the AA batteries' ends electrically. Fill the notches at the proximal end with wire or solder and connect them to the fan via a switch. The switch simply glues into place on the platform near the grip. Lastly, a nozzle made from tube or sheet metal can be fixed to the outlet with duct tape, although it may not be necessary.
