Ebb and Flood / Flow pump adapter

Ebb and Flood / Flow pump adapter

I designed a simple adapter for Ikea Trofast storage boxes, inspired by Chillichump's Ebb and Flood/Flow system. This adapter makes it easy to print and attach the lid directly to the bottom of the container. When assembling this adapter, you can get away with a rough cut hole if you don't have a large enough drill bit. I used a utility knife to create a round-enough hole. To prevent standing water from collecting in the corners, I drilled four small holes in the bottom corners of the container. Connecting the pump is easy - just slide the 11mm outer diameter hose into the bottom of the screw, not the head. I also glued a mesh tube for water inflow using adhesive. For the overflow, you can friction-fit and adjust the height to your liking, then set it with adhesive. In retrospect, I could have done things better - I would have added a mesh on top of the overflow tube to prevent small pebbles from getting in. To address this issue, I simply placed an extra mesh on top of the tube for now. In future versions, I might redesign the overflow tube. My design leaves about 6mm of standing water due to the height of the head bolt, so a few drainage holes are required in the corners of the container. I printed this adapter using Hatchbox wood PLA with a 2mm brim for the standing tubes, and the rest of the parts were easy to print without supports.
