Easy-to-print LED light bridge with integrated light shield
thingiverse
This remix comes equipped with a built-in light shield to minimize glare when you're working underneath it. You'll notice that there are two versions of each of the bottom most segments - those with "and support" in the filename include tree supports made in Meshmixer. If you prefer to create your own supports, use the files without "and support" in the filename instead. The dimensions inside the arch measure 18.5 inches from tabletop to underside of the light shield and 37.5 inches from inside edge of left base to inside edge of right base. You can install up to a 55-inch long LED strip in the arch, and it will still be blocked by the light shield. The completed photo demonstrates how well the arc illuminates whatever is underneath it - the photo was taken at night without any lights turned on in the room. All of the light comes from the LED light bridge/arc alone. I'm very pleased with how it turned out, and you can see how the light shield works by examining the light pattern on the desk. Using a darker color filament would block even more light, but this yellow was what I already had loaded up.
