Easy Side Load Filament Dry Box with built in Silica Gel holder
thingiverse
After printing out several of the great designs on this site I decided I should try my own design. I wanted a simple all-in-one Dry Box that would do it all and was simple to put together with minimal parts outside of 3D printing. I picked up a 18.5 Cup Cereal Dispenser from Walmart (Mainstays) but I imagine this design should work for just about any cereal dry box. All you need outside of the 3D printed parts is a dremel or cutting tool to remove a large hole in the center of the Cereal box. A dremel with a cutting bit worked like a charm for me. You could print a washer out of TPU or use some adhesive clear silicone to seal the joint, which is what I did. No screws needed as the large falic spool insert screws tight to the box. ;-) Anyways, I've uploaded two versions. One is a simple end cap with a tip to hold a 608 2Z bearing or you could print a small mount to guide the tip in place. Or print it without the end tip by lowering it on your slicer. I found this is not necessary as the large screw holds the spool tightly in place without the need for an off side mount. The shorter version has an end cap which will hold a round Hygrometer and will seal the Silica Gel in place. A tru all-in-one dry box. Both versions will hold up to an 85mm wide filament spool.
