Easy print & glue - SU-85

When I began printing vehicles, frustration often arose from inadequate print quality and tedious cleaning work. So, I decided to break down the object into several components. The focus is on achieving high-quality prints and minimizing support structures. After printing, the parts must be assembled together using a strong adhesive. Meanwhile, I have printed and built various models in this way. I make available the print files for all users who want quick and reliable results. Finally, I would like to express my gratitude to the original designers of these models. They are essential contributors to our community. My role is limited to cutting their designs into several pieces – nothing more. This time, I worked on the SU-85. I took this object, divided it into multiple parts, and printed it with my FDM printer at a scale of 1/72. The attached stl-files are scaled up to 1/100. The lower section of the hull and spare track were printed without support structures. The upper section of the hull was printed with support structures in place. The barrel and one sidelight required additional support. Cleaning was relatively straightforward. The tracks were also printed with support structures. Only a minimal amount of support material was needed below the rollers, making cleanup easy. I included an upper hull section without the barrel for users who prefer to build the model with a more realistic gun barrel. I personally prefer to use ear cleaning rods as substitutes for the new barrel. The original barrel appears too large. (Use file D-... instead of file B-...) Update 05.04.2015 I added an additional lower hull section consisting of three parts, which can be printed without support structures and yields better printing results. Use the new E-... file instead of the old A-... file.
