Easy Mealworm Farm

Easy Mealworm Farm

Basic mealworm farm setup. Cloche is a breathable lid that also helps keep things in place.MW Beetles is a bigger mesh that allows beetles to walk on, but eggs and waste to fall through.MW Frass Sifter is a smaller mesh layer that will hold even small mealworms, while allowing waste to pass through.MW Solid is a solid layer for waste collection. The above order is how I layer mine. In similar setups, some people will keep a solid layer between the "Beetles" layer and the "Frass Sifter" layer. Some eggs may fall down into the "Solid" layer, but it's easy enough to transfer any that hatch up one layer.I've done reading that (anecdotally) indicate certain types of PLA may be toxic to invertebrates, mine have been living in Creality PLA, while I have exposed them to Ensina Silk PLA and Peakface PLA as well, for months long direct contact. One of my Tarantulas has an enclosure lid made from PLA, and I've seen members of misc forums make terrariums from PLA and glass and have no detrimental effects. The animals that feed on these mealworms (tarantulas, scorpion, fish, isopods, mice, crayfish, and shrimp) have also shown no negative effects while continuing to live, feed, and molt (when applicable) successfully. Exercise the appropriate amount of caution when choosing material.HEAVILY inspired by BunsGlazing's Mealworm Breeding Box Kit https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4917207 Not actually a remix since I went into Tinkercad and did this myself as learning opportunity.
