There are numerous products available that aim to simplify life for individuals with arthritis. Some of these products are straightforward yet come with a hefty price tag. This project's primary objective is to create a printable design for items like this one. The design in question is a cup featuring an interior grip, making it easier to hold and allowing users to rest their hands if they lack sufficient grip strength. The cup can be customized via my OpenSCAD file, enabling adjustments to hand size and cup dimensions to minimize weight held by the cup. Built-in support for the handle's bottom ensures that it prints without sagging or requiring support material. My inspiration for this design stems from a product called the Easy Grip Hand in Mug, available at healthproductsforyou.com. This product is specifically designed for individuals with arthritis or weakened grip strength. Comparing online and 3D printed versions of this cup reveals striking differences. The online version costs $54.45 plus $7.99 shipping, taking around 3-7 days to arrive. In contrast, the 3D printed version requires only $4.14 worth of filament (207g) and ships instantly, totaling a 93% reduction in both price and time. Although PLA is considered safe for food use, it's essential to conduct research on your specific material before using it regularly for drinking purposes.
